In March of 2009, a lovely Pyr bitch was picked up as a stray by Animal Control. She had no ID - no tags, no microchip - but she did have a lovely personality, and she had obviously been exposed to some training sometime in her past. So she went to a GPRNC foster home, was named "Callie" and after a vet check found her healthy she was spayed and put up for adoption.

The Talwar family had recently lost their Pyr, Chloe, to cancer and were ready to offer their home to another Pyr. They fell in love with Callie, but found that love alone wouldn't be enough to integrate her into the family.

Neema wrote: " A few weeks ago, we almost gave Callie back because we were upset by her bahavior...she was so hyperactive and we weren't used to it as Chloe was very mellow, even as a pup."

After an incident in which she bolted while going to the car, they were ready to give her back, but they were counselled to try obedience training. Neema continued, "..after a good night's rest, we realized that...we needed to try harder so we got some Gentle Leader leashes, enrolled her for obedience classes and sent her for grooming. She mellowed down a lot...is a quick learner and knows a lot of words now.

"We are crazy about her now, and like I used to say about Chloe, one couldn't give me a million dollars to take her away from me....For us, it's like we've been given a second chance after we lost Chloe and are just so glad to have her."
