Rescue Volunteer Appreciation Picnic June 2010

A Rally To Rescue Event

Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic at Central Park in Davis, CA drew about 25 volunteers and about a dozen Pyrs - who were outnumbered by the passers-by lured in by the beautiful Big White Dogs. Rescue literature and cards were handed out and the need for additional foster homes seemed to be the theme of the day.

Good Samaritan Toni Reintke - who rescued Miss Sherrie and paid for her amputation before turning her over to GPRNC - was honored with the Frosty Trophy, awarded each year by Ginger Hess in memory of her own rescue dog, Frosty and given to someone who has rendered extraordinary service to Rescue. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to many of the volunteers attending.

Participants gather in front of the Rally to Rescue Tent and Frosty Trophy, to learn about grooming.

Rescue alumnus Tyshon rests while Debi Carpadus explains grooming techniques.

Tyshon takes it all in stride.

The Susa's pup, Oliver, greets the Thomas' Tessa.

Puppy Oliver (4 months old) pesters his uncle, Prince.
