GPRNC Reps Debi, Randy and Brandon Carpadus, Catherine de la Cruz, Delfina Morris, Terry Garratt (with friend Susan) and John and Sarah Vormbaum traveled to the Gilroy Outlet Mall on Saturday, December 7, 2002 to offer shoppers photos with Santa Pyrs. They were accompanied by the stars of the shoot, Falkor, Tim and Tasia (Carpadus), Quiz (adopted Rescue), Suite (de la Cruz), Winston (rescue dog) and Arkin (Vormbaum).
While Falkor, Tim and Tasia posed for pictures with children (in exchange for a donation to Rescue) the other dogs acted as magnets to draw shoppers to the site. One shopper, who had his spayed Pyr bitch, Sugar Bear, in the car, brought her out to politely greet the other dogs. The GPRNC staff spent five hours educating the public about dogs in general, Great Pyrenees in particular, and promoting Rescue as an option for obtaining a dog. One woman, who said she feared her husband was planning "a puppy under the tree" for her Christmas gift, took a flyer with her and said she was going to tell her husband that THIS was what she really wanted!
